Print labels from Apple Numbers on a Mac

Published: · 3 min read · How-to
Do this in the free app: app.mylabelmaker.com. No signup. Design the label, then print on a Zebra or download PNG / PDF / ZPL.

Numbers is a fine table. It is a bad label surface. File → Export to CSV, open the free maker on Safari or Chrome, map columns, print with Browser Print. No CUPS fight for the design step. Open the free label maker to do it now.

Good to know: Numbers does not talk to Zebra printers by itself. We do not import .numbers files. CSV only.

How to print labels from Apple Numbers on a Mac

  1. Open the free label maker and set the size of your stock.
  2. Add a native barcode (not an Excel font) and map the spreadsheet column, for example {{code}}. Use a column of export CSV (not a PDF of the sheet).
  3. Preview row 1 and a row near the end of the sheet.
  4. Print the stack on a Zebra, or export PDF / ZPL.

Why not print from Numbers

Page setup in Numbers is Letter-centric. Thermal 2×1 and 4×6 need an exact artboard plus native barcodes. Related: Mac Zebra print guide.

Print a whole list from Excel or Google Sheets

Put each SKU, name, or code in its own row. In the app, map a column into text, a barcode, or a QR code. Preview one row, then print the stack. Guide: mail merge labels.

Print or save

Zebra thermal: print from the browser with Browser Print at the printer’s DPI. Everyone else: download PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, or ZPL. JSON keeps the editable master.
