Free PrintNode alternative (design + local print)

Published: · 3 min read · Software
Do this in the free app: app.mylabelmaker.com. No signup. Design the label, then print on a Zebra or download PNG / PDF / ZPL.

PrintNode is a hosted print API. If you only need to design labels and print them at this desk, you do not need a cloud print relay. Design here and send locally. Open the free label maker to do it now.

Good to know: We do not host a print queue or replace PrintNode for SaaS apps that must reach printers in other buildings.

How to do this in the browser

  1. Open the free label maker in Chrome, Edge, or Safari, nothing to install for design.
  2. Pick an exact label size (not Letter paper).
  3. Add text, a barcode, or a QR code. Load a spreadsheet if you have a list.
  4. Print to a Zebra with Browser Print, or export PNG, PDF, or ZPL.

When PrintNode is still right

Keep PrintNode (or similar) when a web app in the cloud must reach a packing-station printer. Use this when a human is sitting at the printer.

Print a whole list from Excel or Google Sheets

Put each SKU, name, or code in its own row. In the app, map a column into text, a barcode, or a QR code. Preview one row, then print the stack. Guide: mail merge labels.

Print or save

Zebra thermal: print from the browser with Browser Print at the printer’s DPI. Everyone else: download PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, or ZPL. JSON keeps the editable master.
