Import Excel into labels without ZebraDesigner

Published: · 3 min read · How-to
Do this in the free app: app.mylabelmaker.com. No signup. Design the label, then print on a Zebra or download PNG / PDF / ZPL.

ZebraDesigner’s Excel/database connect is the #1 “I thought this was included” complaint. Export the sheet as CSV, open the free maker, map headers to {{tokens}}, and print. You do not import .xlsx into ZebraDesigner at all. Open the free label maker to do it now.

Good to know: We do not open ZebraDesigner .nlbl project files. Rebuild the face once on the canvas.

How to print from your spreadsheet

  1. Open the free label maker and set the size of your stock.
  2. Add a native barcode (not an Excel font) and map the spreadsheet column, for example {{code}}. Use a column of file → Save as CSV (UTF-8) from Excel.
  3. Preview row 1 and a row near the end of the sheet.
  4. Print the stack on a Zebra, or export PDF / ZPL.

What people try first

Word mail-merge and “set paper size to 2×1” is the usual workaround. It works until a barcode font fails to scan. Native barcodes here avoid that.

Print or save

Zebra thermal: print from the browser with Browser Print at the printer’s DPI. Everyone else: download PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, or ZPL. JSON keeps the editable master.
