FedEx is a primary carrier for US B2B and e-commerce shippers. Many businesses receive a free or discounted Zebra thermal printer (historically ZP505/ZP506 and similar) with a FedEx business account, perfect for 4×6 thermal stock. Whether you run that account printer or a retail ZD420/ZD421, you can design and batch ship-to labels with free browser software.

Label size and media

4×6 inches, default FedEx shipping label size in the US
Direct thermal (no ribbon) for most desktop shippers
Match artboard DPI to printer resolution (203 vs 300) to avoid fuzzy barcodes, see fix fuzzy 300 DPI

Get order data ready

Export a CSV with one row per package:

name, company (optional)
address1, address2
city, state, zip
tracking (FedEx tracking number when available)
order_id, weight, service (e.g. GROUND, 2DAY)

Design the label in mylabelmaker

- Top: ship-from (static) + “FEDEX GROUND” (or {{service}})

FedEx Ship Manager + Zebra

If you already print paid FedEx labels from FedEx Ship Manager Desktop, keep that path for official postage. Use mylabelmaker when you need:

Do not invent FedEx barcodes: Tracking numbers and rate-paid label symbologies must come from FedEx systems when the label is a legal shipping document.
