Zebra labels printing off-center

Published: · 3 min read · Problem
Do this in the free app: app.mylabelmaker.com. No signup. Design the label, then print on a Zebra or download PNG / PDF / ZPL.

Off-center (especially shifted left and truncated) usually means the printer did not sense width, or the media guides are loose. Fix the hardware, then send a correctly sized job. Open the free label maker to do it now.

Good to know: Do not keep reprinting 20 labels to “nudge” it. One calibration plus one test is cheaper.

How to fix it

  1. Open the free label maker. No signup.
  2. Set the label size to the exact width and length of the roll in the printer.
  3. Calibrate the gap or black-mark sensor if you just changed stock.
  4. Print one test label. Do not send a whole stack until it looks right.

ZD220/ZD421 note

A ZD220 can stay off-center until you reprint a config label. Print a printer config label after calibrate to confirm sensed width.

Print or save

After the test looks right, print the rest from the same design. Save a JSON copy so you can open it again later.

Fix it in the free app

Set the size, print one test label, no account.
